“At Soldierfit, he was a head coach, and I was a trainer,” Vilander said.
“We work well together, and so we decided to open our own spot because we both wanted to focus a little more on the specialized training for obstacle course events, like Spartan Race and Tough Mudder.”
Vilander, Lopez and a team of helpers overhauled the space with new flooring, ceiling fans, fitness equipment and other upgrades.
They also repainted the walls and updated the bathrooms.
Active Hour features functional equipment such as push-pull sleds, kettlebells, medicine balls and plyo boxes, along with other apparatus such as dumbbells, power racks, rowing machines and stationary bicycles.
